What is the Youth Council?
The Youth Council is a group of dedicated young people who meet regularly to discuss issues, plan events, and provide feedback on the centre’s programmes. They represent the views and needs of the wider youth community and ensure that young people’s voices are heard and respected.
What They Do:
- Event planning: Organising fun and engaging activities that reflect the interests of local young people.
- Advising staff: Offering input on existing services and suggesting improvements to ensure they remain relevant and impactful.
- Community projects: Leading initiatives that give back to the local community and help young people develop leadership skills.
- Peer mentoring: Supporting their peers by offering guidance, advice, and a listening ear.
Why Youth Participation Matters
We believe that involving young people in service delivery builds confidence, leadership, and a sense of ownership. Participation in the Youth Council also helps young people develop important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
